Geocomposites

Geosynthetics for soil reinforcing, filtering and separation

Geocomposites combine the best properties of georeinforcements and filtering geotextiles

Geocomposites are georeinforcements that consist of a geogrid and a nonwoven geotextile, which is already firmly attached to grid junctions during the manufacturing phase. Geocomposites combine the soil-reinforcing properties of geogrids and the filtering and separating properties of nonwoven geotextiles. The typical application of composite reinforcements is between the subsoil and the structural layer, where it improves the bearing capacity of the structural layer, equalizes differential settlement and filters and keeps the soil layers separate.

As a combination of two products, the advantages of geocomposites are simpler and faster installation; instead of two geosynthetic layers, one layer of installation is sufficient. The advantages are particularly emphasized in soft clays, where the construction of structural layers is challenging. In addition to the benefits of installation, the structure of the geocomposite enhances the reinforcing and strengthening effect compared to two separate products.

Features and Benefits

Cost-effective

Geocomposites reduce the amount of aggregate needed in construction and speed up installation, so they are a very economical solution.

Quick and easy installation

Installation of geocomposites do not require heavy equipment. The installation can be done in a wide variety of weather conditions.

Very rigid

Our geocomposite reinforcements are very rigid, which is important in terms of the lateral support that supports the structure and thus the formation of a reinforcing effect. Thanks to their load distributing properties, geogrids reduce uneven settlements and road rutting, even in extremely unfavorable soil conditions.

Good durability

Geocomposite reinforcements have a lifespan of up to 120 years in natural soil and do not require special maintenance, when properly designed, installed and maintained.

Environmentally friendly

The materials of geocomposites do not dissolve dangerous substances into the environment. The carbon footprint of reinforcements is smaller compared to traditional methods. In addition, it reduces emissions caused by transportation and the need for maintenance and repair of surfaces in the future.

Applications
  • Construction of roads, streets, railways, tramways and forest roads

  • Widening of embankments

  • Wind farm roads and lifting pads

  • Airports, storage areas and parking areas

  • Embankments on soft subsoil

  • Strengthening the subsoil beneath the foundations

  • Temporary and access roads
